About

A taste of home in Lenexa

Arada brings the warmth of Ethiopian and Eritrean hospitality to Kansas — one shared platter at a time.

At Arada Ethiopian Restaurant & Bar we serve traditional Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine — meat and vegetarian stews (wots) and sautéed dishes (tibs), all served with fresh injera bread. Whether you dine in, take out, or order delivery, every meal is built to be shared.

Popular dishes include Doro Wot (chicken stew), Tibs (sautéed beef, goat or lamb) and generous combination platters. Our menu also features a dedicated vegetarian and vegan corner so everyone at the table has something to love.

Injera & gursha

One platter, shared by all

Meals arrive on a single round of injera — the spongy, slightly sour flatbread that is both plate and spoon. Tear, scoop, and share. A loved one may even offer you gursha, hand-feeding you a bite as a gesture of affection and respect.

Spice with a story

Berbere & niter kibbeh

Spice with a story

The warmth in our wots comes from berbere — a deep-red blend of chili, fenugreek, cardamom and more — melded with niter kibbeh, a spiced clarified butter. These are the building blocks that give Doro Wot and Key Wot their unmistakable soul.

Where coffee was born

Buna — the coffee ceremony

Where coffee was born

Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee, and the ceremony is its heartbeat. Green beans are roasted over coals, ground fresh, and brewed in a clay jebena. Served in three rounds — Abol, Tona and Baraka — it's an invitation to slow down and stay a while.
